Greetings for 2010

Welcome to my site and may I wish you the best of health and best wishes for the new year.

Well, Christmas is out of the way for another year and I have to say things are still very good for me health wise.

I have to confess I have strayed a bit from my usual discipline and regime. It is only natural I suppose that when you feel so good you feel you can get away with things.

The fact that I indulged in Christmas pudding and the seemingly endless tins of chocolates that circulated round the office pre-Xmas suggested that I would suffer. It is clearly the case that my Candida is now in such a controlled state that the odd in-discretion does not affect me. But I do stick to my regime none-the-less.

I confess that I may have added a couple of pounds but my running will soon help me shed that.

I have reviewed several things this holiday and one of those was life insurance.

It is never easy when you need to look into such matters when you have previously been diagnosed with MS as I was this time seven years ago. Indeed officially it was 31st Dec 2002 that the consultant confirmed a diagnosis.

I haven't seen the consultant since June 2004 and have been symptom free since before that.

What I still have to deal with is the medical history bit that the insurance companies go through. I had a tough time convincing one insurance person that I have no issues and haven't even been to a doctor for 5 years! They still maintain they want to apply a 'rating' to increase the price.

I found it quite amusing when I had to have a medical to revew my driving licence which I have to go through every three years. The Doctor tells me not to bother with an appointment to renew, "just give me a call and let me know how you are and I'll do the paperwork".

The message here is that despite all this inconvenience it is a small sacrifice for the discipline I have applied which has resulted in me maintaining my health and a good lifestyle.

So if you are starting a new year and believe in resolutions and struggle to keep to them, I suggest you consider this. Ask yourself, how much do you value your family and lifestyle and want to remain healthy? I recommend you take the selfish view because your health is about YOU and not what anyone else thinks. It doesn't matter one jot what anyone else may feel about your condition. It means nothing and wastes effort and time telling anyone how bad you feel.

Sympathy doesn't make you better and others cannot change things, only YOU can. You will know yourself what it is that you want. If you choose good health, YOU will do what ever it takes and is right for YOU.

This takes a disciplined single minded approach but this is the path to follow to full health. Take it from me - I know!

Best regards,

Phil
